Ode to Eve

My long slumber is ended,
awake at last I find myself,
alive and eager to live anew,
this child has resurrected me.

The ears, the cries, the simple sighs,
the sleep, the calm, the peacefulness --
reminders of the fabric of life;
Love is center, eternal, abiding love.

Eve, you make this hard man cry
my numbness now has gone;
I dream again of happy days
of trees to climb and melting ice cream.

L'chaim -- to life -- which begins again
To hugs and kisses and snuggles
To coffee and books and stories with friends
I thank you, Eve, for this reminder:

... life is worth living.
